A few words about me

Katerina Christoforidis studied architecture and has been working as a designer on both small and large scaled plans, from interior architecture to art objects using origami art. She has been involved with origami since her childhood, but in recent years she has been perfecting the technique, studying complex forms. Using the basic techniques of origami and her imagination, she practices this art, making, finally, unique pieces. Her works are occasionally housed in museum shops as Benaki Museum, Greek Folk Art, Snfcc and various art exhibitions.

A few words about my work

Forms are created exclusively through the origami techniques (traditional Japanese paper folding art), without the use of scissors or collage. Many separate pieces of paper are used for the objects, of different sizes of colours and textures, initially, square in shape.

The origami technique requires patience, meticulous and precise movements. There is more to origami than just folding paper; there is magic in transforming a flat square of paper into a 3d piece of art, breathing life into an otherwise static object. The very act of folding stimulates and enriches the imagination, creating ideas and improving hand and eye coordination. It can also create an enormous sense of calm and relaxation.
