  • Ώρα για μάθημα! Ο Κέρνος είναι ένα αρχαιο τελετουργικό αγγείο που αποτελείται από ένα κυρίως σώμα, στρογγυλό, κάποιες φορές κούφιο στο οποίο υπάρχουν αμαρτήματα μικρά αγγεία η σύμβολα. Στα αγγεία τοποθετούνταν προσφορές. Έχουν βρεθεί Κεραμικά και λίθινα αντικείμενα από τη μινωική εποχή και περισσότερα τη Γεωμετρική και Μυκηναϊκή εποχή. Η τελετουργική τους χρηση έχει συνδεθεί και με τα Ελευσινια Μυστήρια. Στη φωτό αριστερά πρωτότυποι κερνοι, δεξιά, οι δικοί μας σύγχρονοι επαναπροσδιορισμοί! Learning time! “Kernos” is an ancient ritual vessel that consists of a circular body (sometimes hollow) and on the body different shapes and pots are attached. Pots are to receive the ritual offers. Kernos are found since Minoan age but are more common in Mycenaean era. The could be ceramics or made of stone and their use was also linked with the Elefsinian Mysteries. Yet another time on my favorite spot on earth. Sifnos, mesmerising as always, especially off season! Everything is magical here, the chapels, the water, the food, the shore, the people, the pots! I get so moved and emotional when I come here. Sifnos can teach you something beyond words. Simplicity is majestic. Entering a chapel, always so clean and with the scent of incense. It is an experience not an island.

  • Πρόσφατα στον ταξίδι μου στην Κρήτη στο χωριό Μαργαρίτες γνώρισα τον Γιώργο Δαλαμβελλα. Το μεράκι του με συγκίνησε πραγματικά καθώς φτιάχνει μόνος του τον πηλο του με ανάμειξη Κρητικών χωμάτων, φτιάχνει στον τροχό φόρμες με βάση τις αρχαίες Κρητικές, και ψήνει όλα του τα έργα στα ξυλοκαμινα του αναβιώνοντας την παράδοση χιλιετηρίδων. Ακόμα και η διακόσμηση γίνεται με επιχρίσματα από άλλο χώμα και εφαρμόζονται με τον αρχαίο τρόπο με πινέλα από μαλλί προβάτου! Ο άνθρωπος αυτός είναι φαρος για όλους μας, καθώς κάνει όλα τα παραπάνω χαμογελαστός! Σ ευχαριστούμε Γιωργο. Few weeks ago in Crete I met Giorgos Dalamvelas. This mad is such an inspiration. He makes his own clay by mixing different cretan soil, he makes those ancient forms in the wheel, fires them only in wood kilns as has been for millennia. Even the decoration is made with darker soil and applied with the sheep wool brush, the ancient way! This man is a beacon for me, since he does all the above, always smiling.
